The focus of the event was “Philanthropy for the Next Generation.” The event, which was free and open to professional advisors, such as wealth managers, CPAs, estate attorneys, and other professionals who counsel to philanthropic clients, brought to together nearly 60 attendees. The featured speaker was Diane Higginbotham, Senior Consultant at 21/64, an independent 501c3 nonprofit practice providing multigenerational advising, facilitating and training for next generation engagement, especially within family philanthropy and other family enterprises. Higginbotham led a 60-minute discussion focused on engaging the next generation of donors based on research from 21/64’s Generation Impact book and survey. Through meticulous planning and sourcing of items specifically curated, JLBR debuted its innovative pop-up shop at Place of Hope in Boca Raton on Thursday, April 4th. More than 1,000 essentials were sourced through the fundraising efforts of JLBR, transforming Place of Hope into a trendy, custom boutique. The pop-up was stocked with women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing as well as undergarments, skincare, and home decor. Tailoring its offerings to Place of Hope residents, the initiative provided surveys ensuring personalized attention to clothing sizes and special requests to create the unique experience for those it served. Forty-five families were able to “shop” the Essentials Closet at the Leighan and David Rinker Campus in Boca Raton, picking out a plethora of items to meet their specific needs. Additionally, Place of Hope transported several families from their Palm Beach Gardens campus, Joann’s Cottage, a family-style maternity home for at-risk women. The Essentials Closet will expand over the next year as additional shopping opportunities are created. The Junior League of Boca Raton will partner with other nonprofits to provide the same unique shopping experience to other at-risk youth.
