This special evening will shine a spotlight on the organization’s unwavering dedication to America’s military heroes, the service animals who stand by their side, and one woman whose lasting commitment has changed lives. 
 
At the heart of this momentous occasion is a tribute to one of the most extraordinary champions for veterans and military working dogs—renowned philanthropist Lois Pope. In recognition of her tireless advocacy and profound generosity, American Humane Society will present her with the distinguished Global Humanitarian Medal, an honor bestowed by Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane Society, Chairman of the Board John Payne, and event chair Leigh Ann Kazma.

Lois Pope’s dedication to honoring America’s brave service members and their four-legged counterparts has been nothing short of transformative. As a steadfast advocate, her generosity has paved the way for life-changing programs that support both veterans and the military working dogs who serve alongside them.

With 297 total healing leashes provided to veterans, American Humane Society’s Pups4Patriots™ program continues to change lives on a global scale. Currently operating in Germany, Italy, South Korea, Greece, and Japan, the program is rapidly expanding and will soon reach Australia, Canada, Portugal, the Netherlands, Scotland, Croatia, and the United Kingdom. Notably, 56% of all military working dog reunions take place on military bases overseas, further highlighting the international impact of these efforts. 
 
American Humane Society is delighted to honor the Lois Pope LIFE Center for Military Working Dog Affairs, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to ensuring the well-being of military working dogs across the globe. Thanks to Lois Pope’s unparalleled commitment, this center continues to provide them with the care and recognition they so greatly deserve. 
 
Alongside this initiative, American Humane Society will soon unveil its Pups4Patriots Service Dog Training Center—a state-of-the-art facility set to open this April at the new American Humane Society Sanctuary. Here, service dogs will receive specialized training before being placed with veterans in need, offering them hope, healing, and a new lease on life.
