(PRESS RELEASE)_West Palm Beach, FL (June 14, 2021) – On Tuesday, June 2, YMCA of the Palm Beaches received a $10,000 grant from Children’s Foundation of Palm Beach County. The funds granted will help send local at-risk children to summer day camp where they can enjoy fun daily activities, build friendships, learn to swim, and be cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. “We are so grateful to the Children’s Foundation of Palm Beach County for their generous grant,” said Tim Coffield, CEO and President of the YMCA of the Palm Beaches. “This funding will be especially instrumental in supporting single and dual working parents who struggle to find affordable childcare while school is out of session during the summer months.” The YMCA is the nation’s leading provider of child care services and believes in nurturing the potential of every child through programming that provides a safe and healthy place to learn new skills, develop healthy habits, form trusting relationships and build self-confidence. Programs such as the YMCA’s summer camp, help fill in the gaps while children are not in school, so they can continue to learn and develop throughout the year. The YMCA of the Palm Beaches has been serving Palm Beach County since 1917. The Children’s Foundation of Palm Beach County’s mission is to identify and fund projects in the Boca Raton and Palm Beach County areas to aid at-risk children and their families in need. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $13.3 million dollars to fund specific programs and projects for more than 30 local charitable organizations. Each year, Children’s Foundation of Palm Beach County serves more than 9,000 children, and its volunteers give 45,000 hours of their time each year. For more information on other funding opportunities, contact Peter Thate, Development Director of the YMCA of the Palm Beaches, at 561-968-9622 ext. 237 or pthate@ymcapalmbeaches.org.
