The Family Fun Day for families with special needs and medically complex children are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day with food, games, a bounce house, arts & crafts, music and face painting along with a back to school supply giveaway for all school-aged children. There will also be many special needs organizations in attendance providing information and resources for parents.

The Extraordinary Kids Foundation was founded in 2016 by Madean Gilzene,  NHA, the mother of a special needs child with severe, chronic medical issues. The organization, established to address the growing need for quality childcare services for children with medical conditions and special needs has served over 200 children. 

(Press Release) (West Palm Beach, FL – June 28, 2024) Misty Stoller, Interim Co-Director of Mounts Botanical Garden, today announced that Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest botanical garden is now hosting its 17th annual Photo Contest. Nonprofessional photographers are invited to enter pictures taken at Mounts between January 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024. There is a $10 entry fee per submitted photograph.
 
This year’s entry categories include Animal Life, Insect Close-up, Botanical Close-up, People in the Garden, and Scenic Landscape.
 
The Best in Show winner will receive a one-year Garden Steward Membership (value $150), and a $50 Mounts Gift Certificate. The winning photographers in all five categories will each receive a one-year Family & Friends Membership (value $95) and a $20 Mounts Gift Certificate.

Has it really been 25 years since "Mama Mia!" made its debut in London's West End? Maybe so, but the show that has become a worldwide sensation on stage and screen is still going strong, and the current edition that opened Tuesday night at the Kravis Center may just be the best one of them all.

A nearly sold-out crowd buzzed with anticipation as the curtain went up and the timeless music of ABBA -- which most "Mama Mia!" devotees know by heart -- started to flow.

Every aspect of the show, from the strong cast and outstanding production to the flawless choreography and energetic pace, was spot on. It all came together seamlessly in the show's big production numbers, including "Dancing Queen," "Super Trooper," "Honey, Honey," "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" "Voulez-Vous" and the title song, "Mama Mia."

Special mention needs to be made for the performances of Donna's girlfriends, Carly Sakolove (Rosie) and Jalynn Steele (Tonya), whose voices and physical comedy stood out in what is a very talented ensemble.

As toes tapped and heads bobbed, you knew everyone in the audience was ready to jump out of their seats and dance at any moment. If you're looking for something to make you smile and feel good about, head to the Kravis and see "Mama Mia!" before it leaves town on June 30.

(June 25, 2024) The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival today announced their pre-show entertainment during this year’s Shakespeare by the Sea XXXIV and Shakespeare by the Palms IV production of William Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” This year’s free, outdoor festival will welcome international artist Devon Glover (AKA “The Sonnet Man”) during the July 18 – 21 Shakespeare by the Sea evening performances. The Shakespeare by the Sea July 11 – 14 and Shakespeare by the Palms July 25 – 28 performances will open with pre-show exhibitions on medieval battle presented by the SCA’s Shire of Sea March. Pre-show entertainment begins at 6:45 p.m. each evening.
