(Press Release) DELRAY BEACH, FL – Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach will host its annual Obon Weekend on August 10-11, from 10am to 5pm. Obon is a traditional Japanese festival and holiday observed to honor the spirits of one’s ancestors, who are believed to return  home for a short time to visit their living relatives.

During Obon Weekend, museum visitors are invited to fill out paper slips in memory of lost loved ones. Guests can also pay their respects to founder George Morikami’s bon altar on display in the Kamiya Room, next to the Membership desk. 

(Press Release) Boca West Children's Foundation hosted 17 children from Propel the week of July 15th at Boca West Country Club for a week-long pickleball camp. The kids received camp shirts, sneakers, socks, a drawstring bag and a water bottle and enjoyed lunch each day. On the last day of the camp, the children participated in a talent show and competitions. Prior to that, Fuller Center kids enjoyed pickleball camp.

The Boca West Children’s Foundation launched in 2010 and came about as a desire by the thousands of volunteers from the Boca West Country Club to give back to children in Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County-based professional artist Lisa Kaw’s artwork featuring colorful illustrations of parrots, ocean waves, palm fronds and, of course, sunglasses and sunshine can be seen wrapping the coaches of a Brightline train currently traveling between Miami and Orlando. The work will be displayed through September and is the result of a partnership between the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County and Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) as part of a marketing initiative to drive awareness of Palm Beach County as a tourism destination.
