West Palm Beach, FL – In celebration of National Empanada Day, April 8, Barrio's executive chef Rolando Anoceto will roll out his street food-inspired beer braised empanadas ($11) stuffed with dry-aged Spanish chorizo, house-cured manchego, and drizzled with smoked sweet pepper aioli. A beloved culinary treasure in Latin America and Spain, empanadas are easy-to-eat pastries layered with meats, vegetables, and cheese. Tracing back to ancient Persia, the crescent-shaped empanadas (Spanish for "to wrap in bread") takes its ancestral cues from the samosa, a triangular treat loaded with spiced beef, peas, and potatoes. Feeling cheersy? Snag a seat at Barrio's plein air bar and enjoy $2 off Happy Hour quaffs from 4-7 p.m. daily. Barrio is located in The Square at 700 S. Rosemary Avenue, Second Floor, West Palm Beach. For more information, call (561) 366-0071 or visit barriowpb.com.
