Exhibit Inspired by Pre-Columbian Art

“I’m not interested in perfection. What moves me is the beauty found in imperfection and the sense of wonder it can evoke. The small irregularities of my handmade process are not flaws; they’re part of my story, adding depth and meaning to each piece.”

Those words belong to Claudia Henao, a glass, visual and mixed media artist. Born in Bogata. Columbia and currently residing in Delray Beach -- nicknamed "Florida's Village by the Sea" in southern Palm Beach County, her solo exhibition, "El Dorado," recently opened at the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.

​Inspired by the pre-Colombian art from her native country, her finely-crafted works of glass glitter like objects from the exhibit's legendary  namesake.

"Since childhood, I have felt a deep admiration for pre-Colombian art," she said. "I have always wanted to replicate some of the pieces as a tribute to the Indigenous communities of Columbia who have proudly represented us around the world."
