Wednesday, September 25, 2024- Trudy Crowetz, CEO of Nonprofits First, proudly announces the honorary chairs for this year's 8th Annual Hats Off Nonprofit Awards, The Honorable Gregg Weiss, Commissioner, PBC, and his wife, Rebecca. The Honorable Gregg Weiss, Palm Beach County Commissioner, and Rebecca, his wife of more than 30 years, retired in their 40s and sailed the world on their 50-foot boat named Kimba. They anchored in the Lake Worth Lagoon in 2004 and made West Palm Beach their new home. Weiss was elected to the District 2 seat of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners in November 2018 and reelected in 2022. He serves on a variety of boards locally, statewide, and nationally. Gregg has been active in the community as a volunteer and board member. She is proud to support Nonprofits First's green and sustainability initiatives through their efforts with the awards ceremony. Their efforts include a digital event program, and sponsors supply nonprinted items. The 8th Annual Hats Off Nonprofit Awards celebrates nonprofits in Palm Beach County that dedicate themselves to making our community a better place to live and work. These organizations deserve to be honored. The honorees from the past Hats Off Nonprofit Awards will be recognized during the evening. As part of the festivities, a new award called the Legacy of Giving Award will be presented. It was established to recognize and celebrate those individuals or organizations who have demonstrated exceptional generosity and commitment to philanthropy, leaving a legacy of positive change. This year's award will be given to The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation. It will be accepted by The Honorable Danielle Moore, Mayor, Town of PB, Director, and President of The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation and last year's honorary chair of the Hats Off Nonprofits Awards. “This event highlights the exceptional work done by Palm Beach County nonprofits. As part of our celebration, we are excited to have The Honorable Gregg Weiss, Palm Beach County Commissioner, and Mrs. Rebecca Weiss as this year's honorary chairs. Their commitment to the nonprofit sector speaks volumes to their determination to make the community better,” said Trudy Crowetz, CEO of Nonprofits First.
