Credit: Kravis Center (Press Release) West Palm Beach, Fla. (September 2, 2025) Why should kids have all the fun? The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts announces the upcoming adult classes offered through its ArtSmart Series: Continuing Arts Education for Adults. Understanding the benefits of lifelong arts education on mental, physical and social well-being, ArtSmart includes opportunities across a range of artistic media, including acoustic guitar, acting, movement, writing and more. The inspiring series launches with Group Acoustic Guitar from October 1 through November 19. The 8-week course, led by Brendan Lyons, is for both new strummers and those looking to develop skills. Each week focuses on a new technique or element of playing using music the students already know and love.
Those who have been bitten by “the acting bug” can prepare a short, memorized monologue for the first Scene Study Class session on January 13. Thereafter, scenes will be assigned to actors to receive coaching and instruction during subsequent classes through March 3. Led by Emeritus Theatre Professor and Stage Director, Don Butler, this immersive course focuses on creating a character while covering the basic elements of using the environment, defining objectives, discovering the power of stillness and finding motivation. Next, celebrate the connection of mind and body with creativity and community during Joy of Movement from February 12 – March 19. Led by Kori Epps, this no-fear course is open to anyone, whether sure-footed or those suffering from “two-left feet.” Participants can move to great music without worrying about technique in this special program created to experience and enjoy the broader themes of dance. Finally, those looking to paint their world with the power of words will find inspiration during Kickstart Your Writing on January 15 and the Writers’ Launch from January 22 – February 26. Led by celebrated author Julie Gilbert, Kickstart Your Writing brings inspiration and tools to anyone looking to take the exciting leap into writing. The Writers’ Launch encourages would-be fiction authors to mine their own treasure-troves of unspoken thoughts and memories and transform them into a disciplined form of content, technique and style. Additional “back-to-school electives” include the Kravis Center’s Lunch & Learn series, which offers a sumptuous, catered meal and a fascinating lecture from world experts on diverse topics.
