(Press Release) WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center® is thrilled to announce the completion of its innovative seagrass nursery exhibit along with the launch of a new walking tour. With manatee season now in full swing, the Eco-Discovery Center eagerly welcomes guests to experience these exciting new offerings. During the recent Manatee Season Kickoff event, attendees had the opportunity to experience the newly unveiled seagrass nursery exhibit. This exhibit features a series of specialized tanks designed to cultivate seagrass, providing a vital educational resource for visitors and a functional nursery to facilitate seagrass growth. Seagrasses are essential for maintaining healthy marine ecosystems.
In addition to the seagrass nursery exhibit, a new outdoor walking tour, the “Conservation and Innovation Walk,” is now available to the public. This free guided tour will walk visitors around the property, explaining why manatees visit Manatee Lagoon, the history of the Lake Worth Lagoon ecosystem and explore ongoing conservation projects. The tour also highlights innovative approaches to environmental preservation, such as the development and importance of the new seagrass nursery. “This seagrass nursery exhibit and the Conservation and Innovation walking tour have been years in the making,” said Rachel Shanker, Manatee Lagoon Manager of Education and Conservation. “We are thrilled to showcase these projects and educate the public on the critical importance of seagrass habitats and conservation efforts for our beloved manatees.” To register for the new free walking tour, visit www.visitmanateelagoon.com/manateetours. Manatee Lagoon is now open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., marking the start of manatee season. Join Manatee Lagoon as they celebrate their 9th anniversary at ManateeFest. The festivities will take place on February 1, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Don't miss out on this exciting event! Comments are closed.
