LECTURES
ArtSpeaks | Trevor Paglen – 6 p.m. Friday, March 6. Welcome to the world of the weird: How infrastructure, AI, mind control, and psyops are rewiring reality. In this talk, Trevor Paglen looks at the strange systems that shape how we see and understand the world today. From the cables under the ocean to the satellites overhead, from algorithms that guess what we’re thinking to media designed to steer what we believe — Paglen traces how power hides in plain sight. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

ArtSpeaks | Russell Shorto – 6 p.m. Friday, March 13.
How did the art of Rembrandt and his contemporaries reflect the spirit of a nation expanding across the world? Join Russell Shorto as he uncovers the mindset that powered Dutch art, trade, and empire in the 17th century. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

A Closer Look | Weeping Woman – 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 18. Quincy Bruckerhoff, Director of Adult Learning and Engagement, will take a closer look at Viola Frey's sculpture Weeping Woman. Cost: Museum Admission/members free.

Film and Talkback | The King of Color: Unveiling the Story Behind Pantone's Visionary Creator – 6 p.m. Friday, March 20. Discover the fascinating documentary, The King of Color, which delves into the life and legacy of Lawrence Herbert, the genius behind the Pantone Matching System (PMS). Learn how Herbert's idea revolutionized the way artists, designers, and brands communicate through color. Talkback with Lawrence Herbert after the film. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

Artist Talk | Danielle Mckinney: Shelter and RAW: In Retrospect – 6 p.m. Friday, March 27. Arden Sherman, Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, will lead a discussion with Njideka Akunyili Crosby and Svenja Deininger about their work and the future of women artists inside art institutions.

ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Mindful Moments – Noon Monday, March 2. Join Jodi Sypher, MS Ed., for a mindfulness practice using a work of art as the object of attention. Discover the art of slowing down and becoming aware of the present moment using art as a tool for practice. Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

PERFORMANCES
Hollywood Gems Film Series – 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Lady Sings the Blues, 1972. 2 hours, 24 minutes. The story of the troubled life and career of the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. Starring Diana Ross, Billy Dee Williams, and Richard Pryor, and directed by Sidney J Furie. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

Jazz Brunch – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, The Restaurant. The Restaurant serves up classic brunch fare with a complimentary Bloody Mary or a glass of champagne. Each date highlights South Florida jazz musicians. This weekend: The Adam Douglass Trio. Space is limited; online reservations at norton.org/Restaurant.

ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Family Studio | Life in Motion: Everyday Moments & Magical Routines – 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. or 1-2:20 p.m. Saturdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28. This month, we’ll celebrate the beauty and magic of daily life. Families will explore artworks from the Norton’s Collection that capture ordinary moments, play, rituals, and quiet joys. Then, create your own art inspired by the routines, games, and little adventures that make your day extraordinary. Children ages 5 – 12, and their accompanying grown-ups, participate in a 15-minute spotlight tour, followed by a related art workshop. Space is limited; online registration required at norton.org/familyprograms

Book + Art – 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Whereabouts by Jhumpa Lahiri and Jane Peterson’s St. Mark’s in Venice. Over the span of a year, we follow a woman who wavers between stasis and movement and her need to belong and to be free. This is a story about transformation, exuberance, dread, attachment, and estrangement. Read the book and enjoy the discussion and the gallery talk focused on St. Mark’s in Venice by Jane Peterson, led by a Norton staff member. E-books and e-audiobooks are available on the cloudLibrary app.
Space is limited; online registration required. This is a free program.

Adult Sketch Class – 1-3 p.m. Monday, March 9. Join Norton Teaching Artist Shannon Walker in the galleries and experience the Norton’s Collection through sketching. Receive guidance to improve your drawing skills as you engage with works of art and build community with other local artists. Various principles and techniques of drawing will be addressed. Bring your own sketchbook (size limit of 11 x 14 inches) and pencils only. Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: $35 per person/Members $20.

Family Autism Art Workshop – 1-2 p.m. (K-6th Grade) and 3-4 p.m. (7th-12th Grade) Sunday, March 15. The program is for children with autism and their families, and includes interactive time in the galleries, an art workshop, free admission to the Museum, and autism supports. All participating staff members are trained to lead programs for people with autism. Space is limited; online registration required. Registration opens one month in advance. Teen Sketch Workshop – 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 28. Join us for a unique, Collection-inspired sketching workshop designed for teens ages 14 – 18. Participants will explore the galleries, drawing inspiration from the artworks on display to develop their imaginative sketches. Under the guidance of the Teen Collective members, students will learn techniques to refine their observational drawing skills. All materials will be provided.

SPECIAL EVENT
School's Out! – 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, March 19. Start your spring break at the Norton. School’s Out! offers free admission for children 18 and under and their accompanying adults. Enjoy all the Museum has to offer, including drop-in family activities, youth-friendly tours, and community pop-ups.
