​ART AFTER DARK

Art After Dark – 5-10 p.m. Fridays. Norton Museum of Art, 1450 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. Admission: Free for Members; $10 for adults and seniors; $5 for students. First Friday of the month is Jazz Friday. Tours are 5 and 7 p.m. Open Studio art workshops are 6-9 p.m. Artist tours are 8 p.m. the third Friday of the month. Info: (561) 832-5196 or www.norton.org.
  • May 1 – Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Entertainment by AleMor.
  • May 8 – Art on Tap. Join Young Friends Members of the Norton and enjoy craft beer tastings from a variety of vendors, plus light bites and music with Call Me Kalil.
  • May 15 – Luau for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
  • May 22 – LaMun, the husband-and-wife duo of singer Laura Munevar and pianist Juan Tobon.
  • May 29 – Buddha’s Birthday. In collaboration with the Fo Guang Shan Temple, the Norton celebrates Buddha’s Birthday with an evening of reflection and renewal. Engage in hands-on artmaking, experience meditative practices, and participate in meaningful traditions symbolizing purification, compassion, and peace.

LECTURES

Mindful Moments – Noon Monday, May 4. Join Jodi Sypher, MS, Ed., for a mindfulness practice using a work of art as the object of attention. Discover the art of slowing down and becoming aware of the present moment using art as a tool for practice. Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

PERFORMANCES

Jazz Brunch – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, The Restaurant. The Restaurant serves up classic brunch fare with a complimentary Bloody Mary or a glass of champagne. Each date highlights South Florida jazz musicians. Space is limited; online reservations at norton.org/Restaurant.
  • Performer: Adam Douglass Trio.

Hollywood Gems Film Series – Yankee Doodle Dandy, 2 hours, 6 minutes. The classic 1942 musical portrait of composer/singer/dancer George M. Cohan, who produced, directed, wrote, and starred in his own musical shows for which he composed his famous songs. Starring James Cagney, Joan Leslie, and Walter Huston, and directed by Michael Curtiz.  Screens 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Creative Connections: Art for Well-Being – 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, May 22. Join us for a special museum experience for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Explore the galleries together, enjoy guided conversation, and create your own art inspired by what you see. Share creativity, connection, and meaningful moments in a welcoming, supportive space. Cost: Museum admission/Members free
