MAY

Classical Concert Series
New World Symphony
Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Bewitching improvisation, Bohemian fireworks and the return of a legendary violinist…
A favorite of Queen Elizabeth II, the “chance music” at the heart of Thea Musgrave’s bewitching Song of the Enchanter ensures no two performances are the same. Gil Shaham joins forces with Edward Gardner, Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, for Bohemian fireworks by Antonín Dvořák. Sections of the orchestra get virtuoso spotlights in Bela Bartók’s orchestral showpiece that culminates in a fiery finale.
Gil Shaham is considered one of the foremost violinists of our time. Named Musical America’s “Instrumentalist of the Year,” his flawless technique has solidified his renown as an American master. Edward Gardner is the Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of Den Norske Opera & Ballet. He additionally serves as Honorary Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Rocket Man Show starring Rus Anderson A Tribute to Elton John
Saturday May 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Crash land into your seat with THE ROCKET MAN SHOW, starring Scotsman RUS ANDERSON – Elton John’s official stunt and body double as featured in the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ world tour. Chosen by Elton himself, Rus pilots a night of greatest hits, while slamming the piano and wearing Elton’s actual personally owned costumes from the 1970s.
THE ROCKET MAN SHOW is an extremely sincere, intense and visual spectacle of a journey. With the perfect blend of humor, cabaret, costuming, tales from the road, ballads and thunderous rock songs, audiences laugh, cry, sing and dance as they recall the highs and lows of Elton’s epic career.
In the show, Rus recreates the magic and live persona of a young Elton like no other. Storming around the stage with a fun-loving sense of flamboyance; part diva, part soccer player, killer vocalist, fierce piano player, all rock & roller. Rus’ portrayal has been described as “Amazing” by Jimmy Fallon and “Phenomenal” by Queen’s Adam Lambert.
THE ROCKET MAN SHOW has quickly joined the list of must-see tickets in town and is perhaps summed up best by “All About That Bass” megastar Meghan Trainor who claims, “You IS Elton!” It’s one small step for man…one giant leap for Elton John fans.
