![]() By GERRY BARKER North Palm Beach Life All it takes is one look inside Dreyfoos Hall to know you are in for something special. As the audience is bathed in pulsating red lights, the stage is aglow, framed by over 5,000 lightbulbs inviting us to enter the bawdy fantasy world that is the legendary Parisian night club, the Moulin Rouge. "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" -- winner of 10 Tony Awards, including "Best Musical" -- opened last night at the Kravis Center, where a sellout crowd was treated to a visual feast of show-stopping music and dance, featuring just about every pop song you've ever heard and loved. You know the story from the movie: The star of the show, Satine (Arianna Rosario) is forced to woo the wealthy Duke (Luke Monday) despite falling in love with a penniless composer, Christian (Jay Armstrong Johnson). Alas, that plotline seldoms results in a happy ending. But no matter -- the real star of this show is the spectacular production that gives the audience a front row seat at the famed Paris venue that celebrated its 135th anniversary last year. It will lift your spirits and dazzle your senses as can-can dancers whisk you away from Palm Beach to a French cabaret. This is one show you don't want to miss. "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" runs at the Kravis Center through March 30, with shows Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday at 2 p.m. For tickets visit kravis.org or call 561.832.7469 Comments are closed.
