ART AFTER DARK

Art After Dark – 5-10 p.m. Fridays. Norton Museum of Art, 1450 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. Admission: Free for Members; $10 for adults and seniors; $5 for students. First Friday of the month is Jazz Friday. Tours are 5 and 7 p.m. Open Studio art workshops are 6-9 p.m. Artist tours are 8 p.m. the third Friday of the month. Info: (561) 832-5196 or www.norton.org.
  • November 7 – The Subtropic Film Festival will screen The Python Hunt. Music by the French Horn Collective.
  • November 14 – Palm Beach Opera.
  • November 21 – A wellness theme with Tai Chi and a Sound Bath.
  • November 28 – Trivia, plus music with DJ Adam Gold and DJ Konflikt.

LECTURES

A Closer Look – 1 p.m. Thursday, November 6. Join Glenn Tomlinson, William Randolph Hearst Chief Officer of Learning and Community Engagement, to take a closer look at Sam Gilliam’s Xian (Exercise Song). 
Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission / Members free.  

ArtSpeaks – Art and Life in Rembrandt’s Time – 6 p.m. Friday, November 14. Join Elizabeth Nogrady, Curator of The Leiden Collection, to explore daily life in 17th-century Holland and its depiction in art. Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission / Members free. 

ArtSpeaks – Atlantic Coast: A Conversation with Anastasia Samoylova –  Join artist Anastasia Samoylova and Lauren Richman, William and Sarah Ross Soter Senior Curator of Photography, for a conversation about the special exhibition Anastasia Samoylova: Atlantic Coast. Space is limited; online registration required.  Cost: Museum admission / Members free.  

Artist Talk – Shara Hughes: Inside Outside – 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22. Join artist Shara Hughes and Arden Sherman, Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, to discuss Hughes’ special exhibition Inside Outside. Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission / Members free. 

SPECIAL EVENTS

Mindful Moments – Noon Monday, November 10. Join Jodi Sypher, MS Ed., for a mindfulness practice using a work of art as the object of attention. Discover the art of slowing down and becoming aware of the present moment using art as a tool for practice.
Space is limited; online registration required. Cost: Museum admission/Members free.

Family Autism Art Workshop – 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, November 16 (K – 6th grades) and 3 – 4 p.m. (7th – 12th grades). Program also will be held 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7 (K – 6th grades) and 3 – 4 p.m. (7th – 12th grades). The program includes interactive time in the galleries, an art workshop, free admission to the Museum, and autism supports. All participating staff members are trained to lead programs for people with autism. Space is limited; online registration required. This is a free program. 

School's Out – 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, November 28. Free admission for children 18 and under and their accompanying adults.

Mini Member Morning – 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, November 29. A workshop led by Pranoo Kumar, owner and founder of Rohi's Readery.

PERFORMANCES

Film: River of Grass – Subtropic Film Festival brings its second day of films to the Norton with a screening of River of Grass (2025). Directed by Sasha Wortzel, the feature film is an ode to Florida Everglades past and present.

Jazz Brunch – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays, November 30 and December 21, The Restaurant. The Restaurant serves up classic brunch fare with a complimentary Bloody Mary or a glass of champagne. Each date highlights South Florida jazz musicians. Space is limited; online reservations at norton.org/Restaurant.

Concert: Bill Mays Plays the Norton – 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 16. Jazz pianist Bill Mays and contrabassist Jamie Ousley take a sonic stroll through the galleries, interpreting their favorite artworks from the Norton’s Collection through music. Online registration required. Walk-ins welcome if tickets remain on the day of the program. Cost: $35 (includes Museum admission)/ Members $15.
