![]() (Press Release) The North Palm Beach Fire-Rescue Department will hoist a flag on a ladder truck at Safe Harbor Marina Saturday to honor a group of wounded U.S. Military Veterans on their return from a special deep-sea fishing trip with Hookin' Veterans, a non-profit organization that brings injured Veterans from all over the United States together for a one-of-a-kind offshore fishing experience. "We do this to show our community's deep respect and great admiration for all the sacrifices these heroes have made for us, Village Manager Chuck Huff said about the flag raising. "We know we can never repay them, but we just want them to know we are forever grateful and they are always welcome in the Village." Hookin' Veterans has brought 19 wounded Veterans to the area for a few days of expense-paid fun, fishing, and most importantly, connection with each other. They have been staying on Singer Island, getting some fishing lessons, and visiting some local restaurants this week.
Five locally provided yachts from 64 to 84 feet are taking the Vets out Friday and Saturday from Safe Harbor Marina at 1037 Marina Drive in North Palm Beach. They "shove off" at 6:45 a.m. and return by about 3 p.m. both days. On Saturday's return, the Vets will see a 25-foot American flag raised high on a North Palm Beach ladder truck in their honor, as well as some firefighters there in support. Appreciative residents can join in the greeting too! The Village is proud to welcome these awesome American Patriots to the community, and appreciates the work Hookin' Veterans is doing in their honor.
