![]() (Press Release) (West Palm Beach, FL.) – The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hit a high note with its 5th Disney Musicals in Schools Student Share Celebration on Thursday, May 8. The event is an annual recurring educational initiative that develops sustainable musical theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools throughout Palm Beach County. The Kravis Center has been a Disney Musicals in Schools affiliate since 2017. Each student and teacher who took the stage last week spent nearly 18 weeks rehearsing and performing their first school musical. The Student Share Celebration was emceed by Emmy-nominated journalist and WPBF 25 News Anchor Steven Graves. The program is made possible through a generous grant from Truist Foundation. “At the Kravis Center, we’re dedicated to empowering students and educators throughout Palm Beach County and South Florida by providing vibrant, engaging arts education opportunities,” said Tracy C. Butler, Senior Director of Education at the Kravis Center. “Our partnership with Disney Theatrical Group continues to inspire us and we were delighted to celebrate the incredible talents of these young artists on our stage. We are grateful to the Truist Foundation for making this night of magic possible.”
This year’s participating schools included New Horizons Elementary in Wellington and Somerset Academy Lakes, West Gate Elementary and Westward Elementary, all in West Palm Beach. The performances highlighted Disney favorites such as Prince Ali from “Aladdin KIDS,” Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Be Prepared from “The Lion King KIDS” and Go with the Flow from “Finding Nemo KIDS.” This year’s Kravis Center teaching artists included Courtney Anello, Nathalie Andrade, Jeanne Bennett, Kat Davis, Mark Fetterly, Julia Kirk, Rebecca Leslie and Sandi Stock. The event is made possible through a grant from Truist Foundation. “Our mission is to equip educators with the resources and training they need to inspire creativity, boost student achievement and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts,” said Diane Quinn, CEO of the Kravis Center. “We’re dedicated to building a strong, interconnected community among schools, cultural institutions, students, families and neighbors throughout Palm Beach County.” The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is one of South Florida’s premier performing arts centers, located in downtown West Palm Beach.
