The afternoon honored the dedicated individuals and organizations who help make the House a home for families navigating pediatric medical care. “Volunteers are truly the heart of Quantum House,” said Greg Quattlebaum, President and CEO of Quantum House. “For 25 years, their generosity has created moments of comfort and connection for families during incredibly difficult times. This milestone is as much theirs as it is ours.” Outstanding volunteers were recognized for their role in creating a sense of comfort, normalcy and community for the more than 500 families Quantum House serves each year.
Honorees included Volunteer of the Year Matt Serraes of North Palm Beach, a dedicated handyman whose consistent, behind-the-scenes efforts help ensure the House remains a welcoming and well-maintained environment; Student Volunteer of the Year Hudson Ellis of Palm Beach Gardens, founder of Games for Good, who leads weekly game nights for families; and Business Volunteer of the Year Logan Tay, a Palm Beach-based jewelry designer who facilitates hands-on art experiences for families both at the House and in her showroom. Additional honorees included Nonprofit Volunteer of the Year Read Like Royalty, founded by Haley Walsh, which provides character-led literacy programming designed to inspire imagination and a love of reading; and Therapy Dog Volunteer of the Year Sophie Occhipinti of Jupiter, whose visits offer comfort and companionship to families. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Quantum House relies entirely on community generosity to provide lodging across 30 private suites, home-cooked meals and compassionate care to families whose children are receiving treatment at local hospitals. Quantum House is currently in its 25th anniversary year, continuing its mission to be a place where families find respite, joy and community while their children receive medical treatment. Founded in 2001 on the campus of St. Mary’s Medical Center, Quantum House has welcomed thousands of families from around the globe. As the only pediatric facility of its kind between Orlando and Miami, Quantum House ensures that every family—regardless of background—has a place to call home during life’s most challenging moments.
