In just a few short days, the calendar turns to September, one of our favorite months of the year. The dog days of August are past, football is back and -- drumroll please -- Flavor of Palm Beach begins!

Now in its twelfth year, Flavor's participating restaurants offer fixed-price menus for lunch and dinner throughout the month of September. It's a great way to sample some of the best food to be found in Palm Beach County.

Best of all, we didn't have to wait until the official kickoff to participate. Sinclair's Ocean Grill at Jupiter Beach Resort hosted a special media preview Tuesday night to showcase their Flavor of Palm Beach lunch and dinner menus. 

The resort's executive chef, Ricky Gopeesingh, created courses that combined selections from both menus. The only thing more amazing than his work-of-art presentations was the food itself. Some of our personal favorites:

Creme Brulee

• The Burrata appetizer (Dinner menu) -- a prosciutto-wrapped bread stick with Belgium endive and heirloom cherry tomato relish. So good. We also got to try the Grilled  Octopus from the lunch menu, as well as the Veggie Flatbread.
• Lemon Basil Shrimp (Lunch menu) -- Two, perfectly-grilled large shrimp accompanied by goat cheese, port wine blueberry compote and olive oil asiago crostini.
• Lemon Roasted Salmon (Dinner menu) -- Combined with smoked yukon gold potatoes, bell pepper orange chow and pan-blackened tomatillo sauce, it made a great flavor combination.
• Tempura Duck Breast (Dinner menu) -- This was one of our favorite choices. The tempura wrap was divine in combination with a farro medjool date risotto, sauteed asparagus and stone fruit bacon jam.
• Creme Brulee (Lunch and Dinner menus) -- One of the best we've ever had, an a very generous portion at that.

Each menu features your choice from three appetizer selections, four entrees and two desserts. Lunch runs $23 and dinner, $45. You'll not only enjoy the location -- Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa is on the beach -- but also the friendly staff at Sinclair's.  With only a few days until September, get ready to start your food engines. -- Gerry and Pamela Barker
