North Palm Beach Life Devotees of Billy Wilder's classic 1959 comedy, "Some Like it Hot," as well as newbies to the story, will delight at the Broadway version, which opened Tuesday night at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Bubbling over with song, dance and comedic mayhem, and featuring stylish art deco sets, it tells the story of two Prohibition-era musicians trying to escape the Mob by disguising themselves as women. The two leads -- Matt Loehr as Joe/Josephine and Tavis Kordell as Jerry/Daphne -- deliver standout performances, as well as Leandra Ellis-Gaston as Sugar and Dequina Moore as Sweet Sue. One interesting twist is unlike the film version, where the musicians travel to Miami, the Broadway show takes them to California and the Hotel del Coronado, where the movie was actually filmed. Winner of four Tony Awards, "Some Like It Hot" will be at the Kravis Center through Jan. 11. Tickets start at $46. Find out more at kravis.org or calling 561.832.7469. Comments are closed.
