(Press Release) West Palm Beach, Florida (June 26, 2024) – David McClymont, Chief Executive Officer of the Palm Beach Symphony, has been named Chair of the Board of Directors of the Leadership Business Council in West Palm Beach. The Leadership Business Council was founded by several local business professionals with the aim of providing high level speakers on timely topics for the business community within Palm Beach County. The goal of the Council is to enrich the lives of business professionals, business owners, C-suite executives and young entrepreneurs by presenting high caliber speakers on issues that are important to business leaders and professionals in Palm Beach County. “I am humbled to become chair of this incredible organization that offers exclusive networking opportunities among business executives throughout South Florida,” McClymont said. “Our members are leaders from many of the best known local and international businesses who provide us with monthly insights into great leadership.”
Since becoming CEO of the Symphony in 2014, McClymont has overseen strong, innovative fundraising efforts and increased ticket sales, recruitment of high-profile guest artists, more diverse offerings, and an emphasis on music education and community outreach where more than 17,500 students were impacted by Symphony programs in its most recent season. The Palm Beach Symphony will kick-off its 51st season in November. McClymont brings an understanding of productive business systems to the nonprofit sector as a consultant and board member. He’s also done advanced business trainings at California Polytechnic State University, Michigan State University, Georgia State University and Purdue University, where he completed its Lean Six Sigma Green Belt project management certification program. Leadership Business Council breakfasts are held monthly on a Friday from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel, 1001 Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach. On June 28, the speaker is journalist and author Carrie Sheffield, a senior policy analyst at Independent Women’s Forum. The speaker on July 19 is Chef James Tahhan, a culinary enthusiast who spent 10 years hosting the renowned Telemundo TV show "Nuevo Día." Drew Bartlett, executive director of the South Florida Water Management District, the biggest water management district in the state of Florida, is the speaker on August 16.
