L-R: David Webb, Wolfgang Kiessling, Kathleen M. Dudzinski, and Dr. Robin Ganzert (Press Release) (September 12, 2025)-- The Global Humane Society has awarded Dr. Kathleen Dudzinski, Founder and Director of the Dolphin Communication Project, the 2025 Wolfgang Kiessling International Prize for Species Conservation—a global honor recognizing scientists driving groundbreaking change in conservation and species preservation. Dr. Dudzinski is the first woman ever to receive this award, selected from applicants across more than 30 countries. For over three decades, she has dedicated her life to understanding dolphin communication and advancing marine conservation. Her work—spanning The Bahamas, Japan, Belize, Honduras, and beyond—has shaped how scientists study cetacean social behavior, bridged understanding between wild and human care environments, and led to innovations in underwater video-acoustic systems.
“Dr. Kathleen Dudzinski’s groundbreaking work has deepened our understanding of dolphin communication and inspired global conservation action,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, President & CEO, Global Humane Society. “Her dedication over three decades exemplifies the very spirit of this award, showing how science, education, and compassion can come together to protect species and preserve our shared planet.” Read more HERE.
