Carnival Sunrise to Bermuda

ABOARD CARNIVAL SUNRISE_After investing nearly $200 millon in shiny new upgrades for Carnival Triumph, it's no wonder Carnival opted to give the refurished ship a new name as well. Meet Carnival Sunrise.

Newly launched this spring after two months in drydock, Pam and I are checking out all the changes on a 5-day cruise to Bermuda, departing from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

We're anxious to see all the changes an d upgrades Carnival has made to the ship, plus this is our first visit to Bermuda.

Please join as we explore what Sunrise has to offer.

The Chef's Table

ONBOARD CARNIVAL SUNRISE_It's called "The Chef's Table," and if you're a true foodie, and you're on a Carnival cruise, it's something you don't want to miss.

Now offered on all  Carnival ships, we were fortunate enough to get an invitation to experience what it's like. Hey, you don't have to ask us twice.

Carnival Horizon

MIAMI_Carnival's newest and biggest ship, Horizon, arrived at her new home port of Miami Sept. 20, and Carnival threw a big party to celebrate. And who better to kick off a big party than NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, Carnival's Chief Fun Officer, the epitome of "big."

Fun was in abundance as Carnival execs, media, travel agents and guests prepared for a two-night debut voyage to the Bahamas. Horizon was officially launched in April, and after a season in Europe, came to New York before arriving in Miami. To make room, Carnival redeployed her sister ship, Vista, to Galveston. Read more about the Horizon debut HERE.

Guy's Pig and Anchor Bar-B-Que

MIAMI – When Carnival Vista launched, it made cruising history by having the first onboard brewery at sea. Carnival's newest ship, Horizon, will make some history of its own with a new dining concept that combines an onboard brewery and full service restaurant.  GO TO THE STORY.

Carnival Liberty

Almost time to start packing. On July 16, Pam and I leave for a summer getaway to the Bahamas aboard Carnival Liberty. Liberty, launched in 2005, was the first Carnival ship to undergo the "Fun 2.0" transformation in 2011, an almost one billion dollar-initiative to add new features and experiences across the Carnival fleet.

Carnival Victory

Taking a holiday cruise has become one of our new traditions. What better way to escape the hustle and bustle that goes with the season than sitting back on your balcony and watching the blue waves roll by?

This year we chose a five-day, four-night cruise on Carnival Victory. First, because Carnival lives up to its motto, "The Fun Ship," and second, because it made stops at Key West and Cozumel.

Carnival Vista

PORT OF MIAMI _ Carnival Vista, the newest and biggest ship in Carnival's fleet, is finally home. Launched May 1, she came across the Atlantic and cruised out of New York before arriving here, where she'll journey to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Before her initial departure on Nov. 27, media were invited aboard to take a tour. As Carnival PR Manager Vance Gulliksen explained,
"We took everything we learned from our previous ships and incorporated it in Vista from the ground up."

Carnival Studios

With the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood premiere, Carnival Cruise Lines unveiled its state-of-the-art rehearsal complex, Carnival Studios, today in Davie, Florida.

Three years in the making, and billed by Carnival as "the only facility of its kind in the cruise industry," Carnival Studios occupies 44,500 square feet and features 13 full-scale rehearsal rooms, eight music studios, 4 studios that replicate the stage spacing on all Carnival ships, scenic storage and a development studio with an LED wall.

June 29. That's a date that Terry Thornton, Carnival Cruise Line's Senior VP of Fleet Deployment, has had circled on his calendar for a long time. That's the day Carnival Paradise departs Tampa for Havana, Cuba, the first of 12 scheduled departures to the Caribbean destination that's been off-limits to Americans for half a century.  GO TO THE STORY.
