Report Ranks Best U.S. Beaches

6/29/2023

Picture
(PRESS RELEASE)_Travel experts analyzed price points for ice cream, soft drinks and beer by the beach, weather data and public ratings for 35 popular beaches on US territory to reveal the best beaches to spend this summer.
  • Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island, GA, is the cheapest beach to spend the day. A serving of ice cream by the beach is only $1.00. Ice cold drinks start at $2.48.
  • Ice cream from cheapest to most expensive: Prices range from $1.00 in Jekyll Island, GA, to $5.50 in Coney Island, NY, and Outer Banks, NC.
  • Smathers Beach in Key West, FL, is the most expensive beach in the US. The average temperature is 84°F in summer and a serving of ice cream is around $4.00.

Berlin, Germany, June 29, 2023 - Omio, one of the world's leading booking platforms for travel by train, bus and flight, has released a ranking of the best beaches to escape the heat this summer. The study analyzes price points for ice cream, soft drinks and beer by the beach, weather data and public ratings for 35 of the most popular beaches on US territory.

This year is already predicted to be hotter than 2022 and it can get particularly uncomfortable when cities experience temperatures of over 90 degrees. While the air con is a nice-to-have house appliance, it might be a good idea to plan a trip to the beach. Cool drinks and ice cream are a must on a day at the beach. These basic beach needs do not need to cost a fortune if visitors and travelers head towards the destinations in the following ranking.

Study Looks at European Ferry Pricing

6/28/2023

Picture
(PRESS RELEASE)_In these summer months, when sea escapades and cruises of all kinds are the order of the day, ferry travel is a popular means of transport for many travelers. Far from the stress of crowded airports or train stations, ferries allow you to travel in comfort and take your time.

At Vivanoda, a web platform that enables all travelers to find ferry, bus, train and plane tickets, we wanted to launch a major study of ferry prices in Europe to better understand the variations in ferry fares according to several criteria (destination country, distance, seasonality, etc.).

We therefore analyzed tens of thousands of ferry fares on hundreds of routes in Europe, as well as crossings to Turkey and the Maghreb countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia), in order to get as exhaustive a picture as possible.

Here are the key points highlighted by this study at European level:
  • Ferry crossings to Tunisia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Sweden have the lowest price index.
  • Conversely, ferry crossings to Turkey, the UK and Morocco have the highest price indexes.
  • Connections between Greece and Turkey and between Morocco and Spain are proportionally the most expensive in Europe.
  • Connections between Germany and Lithuania or Latvia are the least expensive in relation to the distance covered.
  • The shorter the crossing, the higher the price.
  • Across Europe, prices are higher on average from July to September. They are also slightly higher at weekends.

If you'd like to find out more and access all the results and graphs of the study, please visit this page:

Silversea Hosts Premiere of McCurry Biopic

6/28/2023

Picture
(PRESS RELEASE)_(Monaco – June 28, 2023) Silversea Cruises® recently hosted its global fleetwide premiere of McCurry: The Pursuit of Color, an intimate portrayal of the brand’s long-term collaborator, Steve McCurry—one of the world’s most celebrated photographers. The cruise line screened the film to guests sailing aboard its 11 ships throughout June, inspiring travelers to cherish the world’s authentic beauty, and safeguard the planet and its inhabitants. Steve McCurry has travelled to over 35 countries as part of his exclusive collaboration with Silversea Cruises. Many of these journeys feature in the film, including trips to India; Mongolia; Madagascar; Bhutan; the Arctic; the Virunga Mountains, Uganda; and more.

From challenges in childhood to the pinnacle of world photography, McCurry: The Pursuit of Color charts Steve McCurry’s rise to the top of his craft, revealing the untold stories behind his iconography and reflecting on the pivotal moments of his adventurous life. Appealing to Silversea’s curious and well-travelled guests, his body of work spans conflicts, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions, and contemporary culture alike—yet always retains the human element that made his celebrated image of the Afghan Girl so powerful. Directed by documentary filmmaker Denis Delestrac, the film explores the fascinating life of one of our generation’s greatest visual storytellers, as he travels across war-torn countries and other challenging environments, including monsoon-season India, to capture authenticity in its rawest form. Viewers see new, previously undocumented facets of Steve McCurry: his childhood, his travels, his life in New York, his family life, and more.
