American Constellation in Alaska: Inside Passage

After departing Haines, Day 4 finds us entering what is one of Alaska's gems -- the Inside Passage to Glacier Bay National Park. Surrounded by the Fairweather Mountain Range, today we'll cruise 60 miles into Glacier Bay as only a small ship like American Constellation can. 

Along the way we'll see wildlife, ice floes, waterfalls and of course, glaciers. Since we'll be spending a lot of time outside on decks 4, 5 and 6, the crew is helping take the chill off with a fancy hot chocolate bar, complete the whipped cream topping of our choice.

To help understand what we're experiencing, American Cruise Lines has arranged for a National Park ranger to come onboard. She delivered a lecture in the lounge and then cicrculated among the passengers, answering questions and pointing out areas of interest.

As usual, Capt. Bryan did a great job getting us up close to the glaciers. Later, at the social hour, the crew managed to capture a chunk of floating ice and put it on display for us. All we needed was an ice pick and martini shaker -- and some vodka, of course -- and let's party!
