(Press Release) VALENCIA, Calif. (September 24, 2025) – Iconic fashion and costume designer Bob Mackie and world-renowned Julien’s Auctions will join Cunard’s highly anticipated Transatlantic Fashion Week voyage aboard flagship Queen Mary 2 this fall. Following Paris Fashion Week, this extraordinary journey will celebrate the world of fashion and style on the high seas, with once-in-a-lifetime onboard experiences.

During the seven-night Crossing, departing New York on October 31, guests will have an exclusive opportunity onboard to bid on a selection of Bob Mackie’s original fashion sketches, including:

  • A signed mixed medium, hand drawn illustration featuring a full-length figure in early 20th century evening wear and turban headdress. The cape features an embellished pattern with tassels and a small train, outfitted with black evening length gown, arm length gloves, stacked jeweled bangles and a ring.
  • A signed mixed medium, hand drawn illustration featuring a full-length figure in 1920s inspired flapper evening dress with a fringed hem, feather trimmed coat, and jeweled cloche hat. Mackie showcased his 80s tailored silhouette versus the square lines of the 1920s.
  • A signed mixed medium, hand drawn illustration featuring a full-length figure in 1930s inspired beaded chevron patterned evening gown with deep-v neckline and a small circular train. The draped cape extending from the shoulder straps emphasizes the Old Hollywood screen siren charm of the decade.

Guests will also have a chance to preview Mackie’s acclaimed designs – worn by Cher, Tina Turner, Carol Burnett and more – which will be featured in Julien's Bold Luxury Auction: Bob Mackie, Stage Glamour & The Couture Edit, open for bidding on Juliensauctions.com from Monday, October 27 through December 3. The daily rotating exhibit on Queen Mary 2 will showcase celebrity costumes, including:
  • A custom nude-illusion iridescent halter-neck costume for the Cher...Special that aired in 1978.
  • A sequin bodysuit with fringe skirt, embellished with rhinestones and sequins in a flame motif, worn by Tina Turner in 1977.
  • A custom lamé evening gown with exposed back worn by Carol Burnett for the opening monologue for The Carol Burnett Show, which aired in 1972.

Bob Mackie is a globally celebrated American fashion and costume designer known for his dazzling, theatrical creations worn by some of the most iconic figures in entertainment. Over his decades-long career, Mackie has dressed stars such as Cher, Diana Ross, Carol Burnett, Zendaya and Madonna, and has earned nine Emmy Awards and three Academy Award nominations. Renowned for his bold use of color, intricate embellishments, and impeccable craftsmanship, Mackie’s work has left an indelible mark on the worlds of fashion, television, and pop culture.

In addition to the preview and auction, the voyage will offer a lineup of curated programming, including:
  • A Q&A session with Bob Mackie; Darren Julien, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Julien's Auctions; and Martin Nolan, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Julien's Auctions, offering behind-the-scenes stories from the world of celebrity fashion and collecting.
  • A special screening of Mackie’s new documentary “Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion,” with an intro to the program by the designer himself.

“Evening wear should always be bold, beautiful, and a little bit daring—after all, the magic of fashion lies in its sense of fantasy,” said Bob Mackie. “I’m thrilled to be joining Cunard for this extraordinary Crossing, where we can celebrate style and glamour together at sea.”

“It’s a privilege to present Bob Mackie’s remarkable legacy in such a glamorous and fitting setting,” said Martin Nolan, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions. “Sailing aboard the Queen Mary 2 for this extraordinary Fashion Crossing allows us to celebrate fashion history at sea—surrounded by elegance, creativity, and a community of passionate collectors and style aficionados.”

“Julien’s Auctions has had the honor of working with Bob Mackie for many years, and his influence on fashion and pop culture is truly unmatched,” said Darren Julien, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions. “Bringing his iconic designs aboard Queen Mary 2 for this special Fashion Crossing is not only a celebration of his artistry, but also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors and fans around the world.”

Also featured during Transatlantic Fashion Week will be trailblazing designer Christian Siriano, who will present his first runway show at sea, showcasing pieces in a spectacular onboard event. International supermodel Coco Rocha will also participate in the Crossing with her very first Coco Rocha Model Camp at sea.

The Transatlantic Fashion Crossing departs on Queen Mary 2 on October 31, 2025, sailing from New York to Southampton England, offering a unique celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and couture. Details on the voyage can be found here.
