Enjoying the Caribbean Without the Crowds

(SCENIC GROUP) -- The Caribbean may be one of the world’s most visited cruise regions, but Emerald Cruises & Tours is intentionally charting a different course. Rather than sailing into congested mega ship ports crowded with thousands of passengers, the brand’s luxury yachts navigate toward smaller harbors, secluded islands and lesser-known destinations that showcase the Caribbean in a more intimate, authentic and unhurried way

“The Caribbean is far more than its most famous ports,” said Ken Muskat, President of Scenic Group, USA & LATAM. “Some of the region’s most rewarding experiences are found in the smaller islands, hidden anchorages and local communities that larger ships often bypass. That’s where Emerald Cruises truly excels. We create intimate yacht journeys that bring guests closer to the people, culture, and natural beauty that make the Caribbean so extraordinary.”

Sailing aboard Emerald Cruises’ fleet of intimate luxury yachts, guests experience a more immersive and highly personalized style of Caribbean travel, where days are spent swimming directly from the yacht’s Marina Platform, connecting with local island culture and discovering destinations inaccessible to larger vessels.

From the colorful streets of Martinique and the untouched beauty of Bequia to the glamour of Saint Barthélemy and the crystal-clear waters surrounding Union Island and Carriacou, Emerald’s Caribbean itineraries are intentionally designed around boutique destinations, immersive exploration and the slower rhythm of island life.

One of the season’s standout voyages is the seven-night Vibes of the Virgin Islands itinerary, sailing from December 2026 through April 2027. Exploring the U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Sint Maarten and Saint Barthélemy, the itinerary blends relaxed yacht lifestyle experiences with some of the Caribbean’s most picturesque anchorages, hidden coves and beach towns. The places Emerald’s yachts visit are intentionally chosen for their relaxed atmosphere, authentic character and uncrowded appeal, offering guests a more intimate way to experience the Caribbean.

The December 13–20, 2026 departure will also feature acclaimed chef Rachel Hargrove, widely recognized for her appearances on Bravo’s Top Chef and the Below Deck franchise. During the sailing, guests will enjoy curated culinary experiences inspired by regional Caribbean flavors, local ingredients and island traditions.

Experience the Caribbean’s most captivating islands in March 2027 alongside acclaimed Rum Sommelier Alejandro Ferris on Emerald Cruises’ exclusive Quintessential Caribbean specialty voyage. Sailing from the U.S. Virgin Islands and Saint Thomas to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this immersive yacht journey blends tropical discovery with the rich history, culture and flavors of the Caribbean. Along the way, guests will explore iconic destinations including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua, the pristine beaches of Virgin Gorda, and the charming streets of Gustavia, where French and Creole influences create a distinctive culinary experience.

Throughout the voyage, Ferris will bring the Caribbean to life through engaging rum-focused programming, tastings and storytelling that showcase the spirit’s deep connection to the region’s heritage. From discovering the nuances of Caribbean rum production to exploring how local ingredients, history and culture influence each destination, guests will gain a deeper appreciation for the islands they visit. Combined with Emerald Cruises’ intimate yacht experience and personalized service, this specialty sailing offers a unique opportunity to experience the Caribbean through the eyes and palate of one of the industry’s most respected beverage experts.

A defining feature of the Emerald yacht experience is the Marina Platform, an innovative open-water access point located at the back of the yacht that transforms the ocean itself into part of the journey. When anchored in calm Caribbean waters, guests can step directly into the sea to swim, snorkel, paddleboard or enjoy the yacht’s collection of marina toys, including SEABOB scooters, creating an experience that feels more like a private yacht getaway than a traditional cruise.

“The future of Caribbean cruising isn’t bigger ships or busier ports, it’s intimate access, authentic discovery and unforgettable moments on the water,” said Robert Castro, Vice President of Marketing, Scenic Group USA & LATAM. “Our yachts were purpose-built to unlock destinations that larger vessels simply cannot reach, allowing guests to experience the Caribbean as it was meant to be experienced: relaxed, immersive and deeply connected to the destination.”

The experience extends beyond the water, with thoughtfully designed contemporary suites and staterooms, open-air lounges, locally inspired cuisine, attentive service and a highly inclusive experience that covers onboard gratuities, Wi-Fi, meals, drinks and port charges.

As travelers increasingly seek meaningful experiences and destinations beyond the traditional cruise circuit, Emerald Cruises continues to redefine Caribbean exploration through intimate yachts, immersive marina experiences and thoughtfully curated itineraries that place discovery, connection and authenticity at the forefront.
