(PRESS RELEASE)_DOHA, Qatar, 18 April 2022: Qatar Tourism has announced its attendance at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami to profile the new Grand Cruise Terminal, along with the new seven-night superyacht luxury cruises in partnership with Emerald Cruises, sailing from Doha in January 2023. Emerald Azzurra will offer eight-day itineraries from Doha, with stops at Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi; Khasab, Oman; Fujairah, UAE; Zighy Bay, Oman; and Dubai and vice versa. The luxury sailings are combinable with a bespoke Emerald Cruises three-night Doha city stay, allowing guests to explore Doha with a guided tour and Qatari cultural experiences. The superyacht can accommodate 100 guests, at an impressive 110 metres in length. Guests can enjoy a Sky Bar, observation deck and lounge, wellness area, an infinity pool and marina platform which hosts several marina toys including sea bobs and paddleboards. Qatar is set to welcome between 220,000 and 250,000 passengers over the course of the 2022-2023 cruise season. As the country continues to expand its cruise offering and welcome an influx of travellers, construction is also underway on a new Grand Cruise Terminal located in central Doha, near the Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif. The terminal will have the capacity to host two megaships and will offer various attractions, including an aquarium and art gallery.
Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, Berthold Trenkel, said: “Qatar has a wealth of fantastic tourism offerings that bring to life the rich culture and impeccable hospitality of our country. We're thrilled to continue expanding our cruise offerings and experiences in Qatar and welcome travellers from around the world to experience the best of the Middle East all in one easily accessible place.” Pre and post cruise tours are available where guests can opt for a three-day package to explore the sites and culture of Qatar. Highlights include the National Museum of Qatar, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, in the style of a desert rose; or a visit to Souq Waqif, to purchase local souvenirs and spices. Visitors can take a trip into the desert and visit the Inland Sea, before enjoying dune bashing and a camel ride. In addition, Qatar is undergoing a significant tourism development ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. A range of new resorts have opened including Zulal Wellness Resort, the largest wellness destination in the Middle East offering traditional Arabic and Islamic treatments or are set to open such as Katara Towers which will be home to a Fairmont and Raffles hotel. To travel to Qatar, U.S. travellers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with vaccines that are approved for use by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
