Scenic Group Sets American Mah Jongg Cruises

Designed to meet the rising demand for experience-driven travel centered around meaningful social connection, the new itineraries combine immersive journeys through Europe’s waterways with dedicated onboard Mah Jongg programming in a highly social and elevated setting.

Played using the National Mah Jongg League’s annually updated card, American Mah Jongg incorporates signature elements including jokers and Charleston tile exchanges, creating a style of play that is both strategic and deeply interactive. The game has experienced a major resurgence across the United States recently, evolving into a vibrant social movement celebrated for the friendships, traditions and sense of community built around the table. 

Designed for players of all experience levels, the themed sailings will feature guided play, hosted sessions, instructional opportunities and curated social events, all seamlessly integrated into Emerald Cruises’ highly inclusive luxury river cruise experience. The first eight-day sailing departs August 4, 2027, traveling between Budapest and Munich with calls in Bratislava, Vienna, Dürnstein and Passau. Sailing through the heart of the Danube, guests will experience a journey rich in culture, history and scenic landscapes while connecting with fellow travelers through shared onboard experiences. 

A second departure follows on August 11, 2027, operating the same itinerary and giving additional guests the opportunity to experience the dedicated American Mah Jongg programming while exploring one of Europe’s most celebrated river cruise routes.
