BY GERRY BARKER North Palm Beach Life As someone who takes frequent cruises, one of the smart travel tips we learned over the years is book a hotel the night before the cruise. Despite all our planning, things can and do go awry, especially in today's world of government shutdowns and flight cancellations, which could combine to torpedo a vacation. That's how we came across YOTEL. (If you are wondering about the name, it comes from founder Simon Woodroffe, who also founded YO! Sushi.) We discovered there's a YOTEL in Miami, located adjacent to Bayfront Park, that's less than a 5-minute drive to PortMiami, the busiest cruise ship port in the world. While good to know, the next trip on our docket wasn't a cruise but a flight to New York, where we would celebrate our granddaughter Cate's 13th birthday. After some checking, YOTEL is there too, located at Tenth Avenue and 42nd St. in Hell's Kitchen near Times Square -- a perfect opportunity to see what the brand is all about. READ MORE.
