(Press Release) (WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.) Nearly 600 volunteers and guests put on their spacesuits for the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts’ Volunteer Salute. The annual thank-you dinner is known for its imaginative themes and fun surprises. This year stood out with its “Out of this World” theme, inspired by the upcoming virtual reality immersive experience, “The Infinite,” beginning June 4 at the Kravis Center. Awards were presented for Outstanding Student Volunteers, Outstanding Rookie Usher, Outstanding Ushers and Volunteer of the Year.
“Tonight is all about you and we want to recognize and thank each of you for all you do,” said Maureen Gardella, Director of Guest Services for the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. “Your time and efforts are an invaluable part of what we do. So far this season our volunteers have donated more than 60,000 hours of time. The time you spend here makes a difference to our organization, our staff and most importantly our community. We are proud of you, and we thank you.” Ms. Gardella then acknowledged Board members in attendance, including Board Chair Sherry Barrat, past Board Chair Jane Mitchell, Board member Bradley Hurston and Vice President of Development Chure Gladwell. She also acknowledged CEO Dianne Quinn and Vice President of Operations Nick Tigue. Guests were treated to dinner prepared by Kravis Events by Lessing's Hospitality Group. A sneak peek video of “The Infinite” was shown in addition to an announcement that next season’s “Kravis on Broadway” series will be announced on May 6, 2024. After the presentation, the volunteers danced the evening away to music provided by DJ Teddy Mixx. Mary Stucchi and Miranda Hawkins, Education Associates at the Kravis Center, recognized Daniel Mongra, resident of West Palm Beach, as the Outstanding Student Volunteer. Front of House Operations Manager Peggy Sheriff presented the Outstanding Rookie Usher award to Jupiter resident, Maura Merkal, and Karole Cooney announced the Outstanding Usher award winner Sharon Rachlin, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens. Kravis Center CEO Diane Quinn presented the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award to Karen and Steve Olsen, West Palm Beach residents. “Each year the Volunteer of the Year Award goes to a volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to the Kravis Center,” said Ms. Quinn. “This year’s award goes to two volunteers who have been here a relatively short time, but who have made a huge impact. They are always helpful and courteous and always stay calm --which is sometimes difficult to do around here. They are truly excellent representatives of the Kravis Center.” The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach, FL. The Kravis Center provides exceptional cultural experiences that entertain, inspire, and educate audiences across the entire community.
