On a lovely Saturday, we pulled into a Starbucks in Tampa, where we lived at the time.
In another vehicle in the parking lot slept a three-month-old, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, girl. No, the show Sex and the City, and their beautiful CKCS, Elizabeth Taylor, had absolutely nothing to do with our decision to get a Cavi. As a matter of fact, I had totally forgotten about that precious puppy when researching canine breeds. Enough to know that even though Cavis can and do have a multitude of quite serious health issues, we knew this was the breed for us. We were 100% correct. If you have never met a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, you should. You will never find a more loving and devoted small dog. They are descended from British royalty, but they don't really act like it, too much. They are food-lovers, people-lovers, sleep-lovers...well, they are all about love. So, Happy 9th Birthday to the sweetest girl -- our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Reggie. Okay, her official name is Bella Regina. But, the real story is, we named her Regina after the character played by Audrey Hepburn in a film titled, Charade. Her name was Regina, but she was called, Reggie. I loved it, and it fit our precious girl.

Reggie...I'm sure you received the "Royal" treatment on the occasion of your 9th birthday!
