James E. "Jimmy" Hibbard has spent more than five decades in the entertainment business as a dancer, actor and teacher. Hibbard, who resides in Vancouver, talks about his background:
"I've been teaching since I was 17 years old. I'm on the faculty of Capilano University where I teach tap, jazz, and Musical Theatre to performing arts students.
"Until 1972, I lived in Los Angeles ( Hollywood ). We moved to Vancouver, BC in 1972 and stayed. My wife's name is Charlene Brandolini. She was a very well know musical theatre performer in Canada. I've worked with her many times in Canada, and also, many times in Southern California.
"It is a rarity to still be dancing at my age. I'm 77 but don't feel it. I've had a resurgence in my dancing career in the last three years. I've done eight movies, 12 TV shows, and musical plays. I have a current recurring role of the Janitor on the Netflix series, 'Julie and the Phantoms '. It's amazing...I'm out dancing with babies half my age and younger. I'm very proud of this.
"My one hobby is river and stream fishing, which I've done since I was a little boy in Idaho. I was born in Oregon, but lived mostly in different towns in Idaho.
Pets? We have two cats now. Their names are Miss Marple and Doctor Foxy Watson. They are sisters.
I've been writing my autobiography for about three years now. I'm very excited about that! I think my story would be inspirational to any young artist who aspires to have a career in show business."
