The Cuban Coffee Caper
By PAMELA BARKER Community Reporter/Social Media Editor North Palm Beach Life/ [email protected] Sometimes you want to get-away without really going away, right? Me, too. So, how amazing can an adventure be in a few measly hours, in a 10-mile radius? I got on it, and my master plan went a little something like this: Enlist the aid of an accomplice. My friend, Scoobie, jumped aboard and my scheme began to unfold. It helps, a great deal, when your accomplice also has a brand-new, sassy black, Mini Cooper to be utilized as a groovy travel-mode. Try at least one new establishment or food. Our choice was Cuban coffee at Tulipan. Our mission was accomplished as Scoobie had never had Cuban coffee and I had never been to the Tulipan location on Northlake.
Plus, she made me realize I had no idea how to pronounce the name of the place. Visit a beach/park new to Scoobie. As an avid biker and photographer of all areas around the northern sector of the Palm Beaches, this was no easy task. But, this mission was accomplished when we motored into Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island. Tree climbing (her, not me) and beach photos ensued. Grab lunch with an ocean view.
This was easy and breezy. Very near Ocean Reef Park is Coconuts on the Beach, where we grabbed a high-top, while the crisp breeze swirled around us. Iced tea arrived, and although my regular server was not there, it was all good. Salad for Scoobie and a gigantic sandwich for me, with views of the azure Atlantic, made for a pretty amazing lunch. Introducing-Oceans Allure.
This charming boutique, where Scoobie is a regular, but I was a newbie, is not even near the ocean, but it proved to be quite alluring. Although I already own one pair of black and white palazzo pants (which came hemmed to the correct length), I had an amazing adventure in the shop buying a new pair. Stay tuned as I plan to write more about this store, and my antics, later on. Very near Oceans Allure is Charming Charlie, the haven (well, second to Francesca's) of all things costume jewelry. Naturally, I had to scoop up a few little things. It is the rule of the girly-Universe (in my universe). Well, that brought us to...(30).
You see, back in the day, "30" was newspaper jargon for The End of a story. Hold on, although our amazing adventure was over and Scoobie motored me back to my domicile, there was one more little thing. My Oceans Allure and Charming Charlies bags? Yeah, still in her sleek, black Mini Cooper. Yeah, I had grabbed Scoobie's bag in my enthusiasm. But, one little glitch can not touch a day of getting away and having an amazing adventure. |
