History and Learning Merge in This Town on the Neckar River

The fall foliage is spectacular in the hills along the Neckar River. Today is both cold and rainy, so we grab our umbrellas and head for the Heidelberger Bergbahn (Heidelberg Mountain Railway), a funicular that will take us to the famous Heidelberg Castle overlooking the city. Let's go! |

been built and rebuilt over 800 years. |

The castle houses the world's largest wine barrel. It can hold 58,000 gallons, and even has a dance floor on top.

After shopping, we make a stop at Cafe Romantic for the best apple streusel and hot chocolate in the world.

Old Town provides a good vantage point for viewing Heidelberg Castle.
Our tour over, we board the buses back to the Ms River Splendor. Tomorrow we arrive in Wuzburg, and its baroque European masterwork, the Wurzburg Residence.
