Meet Scoobie and MJIntroducing SoCal to SoFlo Trekkers, Scoobie and MJ. For the next couple of weeks, we hope to bring you glimpses into their cross-country adventure.
Scoobie, a resident of South Florida, has been featured on this site previously, so you may be familiar with her face. She and her husband, Mark are an active and dynamic couple in the Palm Beaches. MJ, you could say, is the reason for this cross-country journey. Recently discharged from the United States Marines in the San Diego area, she is making her way back to begin a truly new journey. Recently married to Dylan, a fellow Marine just deployed, MJ is Scoobie's niece. They are planning to update us on their progress across this great land. Safe travels and thanks for sharing it with our readers! Related: Motoring with Scoobie

The Route They'll TakeRoad Trip HistoryFrom: Wikipedia
The world's first recorded long distance road trip by automobile took place in Germany in August 1888 when Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz, the inventor of the first patented motor car (the Benz Patent-Motorwagen), travelled from Mannheim to Pforzheim (a distance of 66 miles, in the third experimental Benz motor car (which had a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour and back, with her two teenage sons Richard and Eugen, but without the consent and knowledge of her husband. Presently there is a dedicated signposted scenic route in Baden-Württemberg called the Bertha Benz Memorial Route to commemorate her historic first road trip. |
