On one of our recent forays to Total Wine, we were scanning the shelves when I ran across Flipflop. Not the shoes, the wine. As a Florida fun-in-the-sun-kind-of-guy, I immediately liked the name. But on closer examination, I discovered something I have never seen in all my years of wine shopping: It comes in a can. At last -- a wine for the rest of us! It comes in several "fizzy" varieties, all just right for some chillin' by the beach, pool or patio, including Fizzy Crisp White, Fizzy Moscato, Fizzy Pink Moscato, Fizzy Sangria and Fizzy Chill Red. (For you more traditional wine lovers, chill out. It also comes in bottles). Flipflop has been around since 2012, and is marketed by The Wine Group out of Livermore, California, which, according to their website, is the world's "third largest wine producer by volume." Their brands include Cupcake, Franzia and Almaden. Flipflop's motto is "Always delicious - never pretentious." After sampling the Moscato, I agree with both. It's everything I like in a wine: Easy to carry, easy to open and refreshing. Wine in a can? Works for me.
