What better way to launch a virtual Junk Drawer than tossing in this photo of our bottle of Veuve Clicquot, Rose Champagne. The exact opposite of junk!
Although this French brand was founded in 1772, it's seen in scores of films, is quite famous. I only discovered it in 2007. Now, it is my absolute favorite. As usual, I am late to the party. But, better late, as the saying goes. Typically, we purchase the champagne, not the Rose version. It is not readily available, so when it was, we grabbed it. Wait, we grabbed it, then PAID for it! The history of Clicquot is rich, and deep, with the oldest known unopened bottle having been discovered in 2008 in a sideboard inside a castle in Scotland. In pristine condition, having been preserved in the dark, it now rests in the Clicquot museum in Reims, France. Back home, as it should be. Bottles have been discovered in shipwrecks, AND it is mentioned in Downton Abbey, Series 6, Episode 1. Cheers!
