(PRESS RELEASE)_Hamburg / Los Angeles, June 26, 2019 – Hamburg’s love for anything cruise and maritime events will culminate in the 7TH HAMBURG CRUISE DAYS, September 13-15, 2019, when the city’s port will set the stage for both the cruise industry and cruise fans. With a record number of twelve participating cruise liners, the Hamburg Cruise Days are the biggest public cruise festival in the world. On shore and off, spectators can partake in a diverse program that includes a parade of cruise liners, fireworks, harbor illuminations, culinary experiences, special promotions, ship presentations, music, and harbor cruises.
The Ships The ships are at the center of the Hamburg Cruise Days. Final line-up includes a record twelve cruise liners: the AIDAperla, AIDAsol, AIDAvita (AIDA Cruises), Amadea (Phoenix Reisen), Costa Mediterranea (Costa Cruises), EUROPA and EUROPA 2 (Hapag-Lloyd Cruises), Mein Schiff 4 (TUI Cruises), MSC Preziosa (MSC Cruises), World Explorer (nicko cruises) and the river cruisers Frederic Chopin (nicko cruises) and Sans Souci (Plantours). Highlight – The Cruise Ship Parade For the Grand Hamburg Cruise Days Parade five cruise liners will sail down the Elbe river, accompanied by escort boats and a lavish firework display. The parade will be led by AIDAperla, followed by EUROPA, MSC Preziosa, Mein Schiff 4 and World Explorer (this order may change). Day and Night Event During the Hamburg Cruise Days 2019, the city’s waterfront is being transformed into themed areas that bring the pleasure of cruise travel onto dry land – with maritime markets, cultural highlights, live music and dance, culinary specialties, recreation and sports, as well as fun and games for all. The Hamburg Cruise Days 2019 are the perfect opportunity to experience the fascinating world of cruise liners. Hamburg Cruise Business Booming Hamburg is expecting continued positive developments for the 2019 cruise season: After 2018’s record numbers of 220 port calls and 915,000 passengers, the city has upwardly adjusted its goals for the current year. Between 2015 and 2018, Hamburg’s cruise business has grown by about 76 percent. All in all, 7 American Cruise Lines are calling port in Hamburg in 2019: Holland America Line with 1 ship (2 calls), Princess Cruises with 2 ships (2 calls), Oceania Cruises with 1 ship (2 calls), Norwegian Cruise Line with 1 ship (7 calls), Silversea Cruise with two ships (2 calls incl. Cruise Days), Azamara Club Cruises with 1 ship (1 call), Royal Caribbean International with 1 ship (1 call) and Cunard Line (British with many American guests) with 2 ships (7 calls, including Cruise Days). In 2018, a total of 23,120 American cruise passengers started, disembarked or transferred through Hamburg. The Hamburg Cruise Days are preceded by Seatrade Europe.
