Luncheon Honors Affordable Housing Champions

(Wednesday, May 24, 2023) – The Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County hosted the inaugural Housing Heroes Luncheon on Wednesday, May 10, at the Hilton West Palm Beach. A packed house of 350 cheered on Commissioner Mack Bernard and three other award winners who have demonstrated their commitment to improving affordable housing in Palm Beach County. Presented by PNC Bank, the event celebrated the achievements of the following award winners:

Housing Hero of the Year – Commissioner Mack Bernard
Housing Impact Award – Housing & Homeless Alliance of Palm Beach County
For-Profit Developer of the Year – Housing Trust Group
Non-Profit Developer of the Year – Community Land Trust of Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast

​"The energy at the luncheon really emphasized the support we have in Palm Beach County to address the housing crisis,” said Suzanne Cabrera, president and CEO of the Housing Leadership Council. “We are so thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments we have made in housing over the last few years and delighted to recognize all the nominees and the award winners.”

Guest Speaker Florida Senator Alexis Calatayud, who sponsored the Live Local Act that was just signed into Florida law, demonstrated her dedication to helping solve the housing crisis.  The bill, a $711 million plan to make housing more affordable for Floridians, passed the Senate unanimously only four days into the session.
