(October 30, 2019)—James Beard Award winner Mark Militello is back in South Florida and has been named Executive Chef at the popular Miracle on Rosemary in West Palm Beach. Militello, who spent the summer dazzling guests in the Hamptons at 75 Main, will oversee all culinary operations at Miracle’s Rosemary Square location, which opens on Monday, November 25.

“This menu will get you in the holiday spirit—it will feature seasonal dishes with a focus on fresh local fish, seafood and produce,” Mark Militello said.  

Miracle, the beloved Christmas-themed pop-up bar, will again celebrate the 2019 holiday season with a festive menu of ‘naughty and nice’ signature cocktails, over-the-top, vintage Christmas decorations, classic Christmas carols and, for the first time, Militello’s award-winning signature dishes. Miracle on Rosemary will be open from 5 p.m. through 2 a.m., from November 25 through December 31.

Militello is often credited with putting South Florida on America’s culinary map. He opened his first restaurant - Mark’s Place - in North Miami Beach in 1988. It earned rave reviews and just two years later, Food & Wine named him one of the “10 Best Chefs in America.” In ensuing years, he operated four other namesake restaurants throughout South Florida.

Locally, Militello is revered as one of the original members of the “Mango Gang” - a group of Miami area chefs who revolutionized the South Florida dining landscape in the late 1980s.

In addition to the James Beard Award for “Best Regional Chef” in the Southeast, Militello received two “Golden Dish” awards from GQ magazine and a “Distinguished Restaurant Award” from Conde Nast Traveler, among other prestigious accolades.

Rosen brings to his position more than 40 years of hospitality experience, including 27 years as executive chef for restaurants and hotels in Florida’s Palm Beaches, southern New England, Chicago and New York City.

Over his long career, Rosen has been featured on The Food Network and has cooked for international sports figures, entertainers and heads of state, from President Reagan to Tiger Woods, Barbara Streisand and the Bolshoi Ballet.

His love for seafood and culinary fusion will inspire the dishes he brings to the new menu. Rosen plans to incorporate menu items with Asian, Italian, Mediterranean and American flare, and will make the most of local farmers and purveyors to bring the freshest ingredients to diners.

(PRESS RELEASE)_MIAMI, FL (October 29, 2019) - The Miami-Dade County Commission has approved ratification of agreement for Brightline, soon to be Virgin Trains, to build a station at PortMiami by 2020.  The Virgin Trains PortMiami station will be a U.S. transit first as the only intercity rail system in the U.S. connecting an international airport (Orlando International Airport), directly to a major cruise port (PortMiami). This seamless car-free mobility solution will connect Central Florida to the “cruise capital of the world.”

“This private-public partnership is a great opportunity to expand PortMiami’s connectivity to visitors traveling from central Florida and for Miami-Dade County residents to get to the Orlando area in a quick, enjoyable way,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “I want to thank the Board of County Commissioners for its support of the Virgin Trains PortMiami station. It’s one more move forward to continue to improve our County’s mobility.”

Brightline, soon to be Virgin Trains, develops and operates privately funded high speed intercity passenger rail systems connecting large populations too far to drive and too close to fly. Current train service operates from  downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach with phase 2 construction underway to connect Orlando in 2022. Due to demand along the South Florida corridor, an additional station in Aventura is approved and Virgin Trains is working with the city of Boca Raton to add a station in 2020. 

“This is a first-of-its-kind train to port station that will connect the cruise capital of the world with a car-free option for millions of cruisers looking to start their vacation a little earlier.”  said Patrick Goddard, President of Virgin Trains. “This is a tremendous partnership and infrastructure investment between PortMiami, Miami Dade County and Brightline   that will increase mobility, take cars off the road and provide our state’s visitors an easier way to get around.”

Last year the Cruise Capital of the World served more than 5.5 million travelers, more cruise passengers than any other port in the world. PortMiami is currently home to 22 cruise lines, and will welcome Virgin Voyages in 2020. New cruise terminals and office headquarters will soon be opening or in the pipeline for leading brands including Royal Caribbean Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises.

“I want to promote a community of care,” said Alexander.  “I am excited to join the YMCA of the Palm Beaches in an effort to truly support the community at large in all aspects and interests of life,” he added.

Alexander has been in the industry for nearly 10 years and has expertise in hospitality, marketing, event management, and fundraising.  Previously, he held the elite title of “Captain Fun” in his role as Cruise Director for American Cruise Lines.  Alexander believes relationships to be the key to success and prides himself on his involvement with many worthwhile organizations throughout Florida.
