PRESS RELEASE_MIAMI, Fla. – June 28, 2018 – Brightline, Florida’s new hospitality-focused express intercity passenger rail service, is partnering with Talent4Change, a non-profit charitable organization, to sponsor BUZZitFORWARD, a mobile barbershop initiative in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties aimed at working with youth and homeless organizations. Talent4Change will use its mobile barber shop, the BuzzBoxx, to offer free haircuts and mentorship to underprivileged youth and members of the homeless community who take Brightline’s rail safety pledge or a brief tutorial on rail safety. Brightline and Talent4Change kicked off the BuzzBoxx Tour last week at the Overtown Youth Center, the Broward Partnership, and as part of the Juneteenth Freedom Festival in South Miami. “We are thrilled to have Brightline as a sponsor of the BUZZitFORWARD initiative. Their support will help us expand our reach and make a difference in more communities throughout South Florida,” said BUZZitFORWARD Program Creator Amir Youssef. “Everyone knows, when you look good, you feel good and our goal in using tools like the BuzzBoxx is to help equip kids with self-confidence while encouraging them to use that boost to become better, more responsible members of their community. PRESS RELEASE_MIAMI, Fla. – June 22, 2018 – Brightline, Florida’s new hospitality-focused express intercity passenger rail service, announced its collaboration with Typoe, who created a permanent art installation at MiamiCentral, the new 11-acre intermodal development in the heart of downtown Miami. An internationally known and Miami-based multidisciplinary artist, Typoe began the creation and installation of the artwork in early June. A special reception to celebrate his work will be held this evening at MiamiCentral.
Typoe’s movement-themed murals live on a main wall and two surrounding columns in the ticketed guest lobby at MiamiCentral. Utilizing bright, tropical colors to reflect the Brightline train and vibrant Miami community, he created dimension through the station’s existing element of concave walls with a colored grid that features engaging optical paintings to push, pull and skew visitors’ eyes. The colorful piece blends with the overall aesthetic of the station in creating an inviting and visually appealing space for future riders. “I thought a lot about the different ways this piece could be approached with the theme of movement and the dimensions of the wall,” said Typoe. “While it could’ve been very literal, I wanted to create a fun and engaging piece reflective of the Miami community that would be an experiential interaction for visitors and make them even more excited about riding the Brightline train.” Typoe’s installation is one of the first steps in blending culture and community into each of Brightline’s three South Florida stations. PRESS RELEASE_Miami, Fla. – June 18, 2018 - The 13th Annual National Dump the Pump Day is June 21, and Brightline is encouraging commuters and business travelers to take Brightline instead of sitting in traffic. National Dump the Pump Day is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and is a day of supporting mass transit as a convenient travel option instead of driving a car. As part of the National Dump the Pump Day celebration, Brightline is providing complimentary Illy coffee and Zak the Baker pastries between 6 and 11 a.m. at its three South Florida stations for Brightline guests. With the average Miami commuter spending 64 hours a year sitting in traffic, Brightline provides a more efficient and relaxing ride for work and play. Besides being a time saving initiative, mass transportation also provides multiple health benefits including reducing the risk of being in accident by more than 90 percent, in addition to lower depression, anxiety and stress risks for riders. Moreover, public transportation users are 44 percent less likely to be overweight, 27 percent less likely to have high blood pressure and 34 percent less likely to have diabetes. Starting this week, Brightline added three additional northbound and southbound trips daily between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, offering 11 trips each way. The company also announced 16 northbound and 16 southbound trips will be available in August. Commuters have plenty of opportunities to partake in National Dump the Pump Day and learn why mass transit is a great alternative to sitting in their car during rush hour. Please visit www.gobrightline.com or download the Go Brightline app to view train schedules and book tickets. As our longtime readers know, we do enjoy a good martini. So it is surprising that we didn't realize there's a national day set aside to celebrate our favorite cocktail. And guess what? It's tomorrow! Our friends at Sandpiper's Cove are marking the occasion with a "$5 Dollar, All Day Long" event featuring Svedka vodka. If you aren't a member at this waterfront restaurant and bar in Old Port Cove, now's a great time to join up! Find out more HERE.
