Party-goers Say Farewell to NPB Clubhouse

4/28/2018

Hundreds came to the farewell party for the North Palm Beach Country Club's historic 55-year-old Clubhouse, which will be demolished in June to make way for a new, 37,000 square-foot clubhouse, set to open in late summer, 2019. The party featured a barbeque buffet, a raffle and live music by Memory Lane, as well as a live auction of Village memorabilia. We're going to miss the New Year's Eve party!

Brightline Adjusts Schedule for Miami Service

4/26/2018

Picture
PRESS RELEASE_April 26, 2018- Today, Brightline announced a new schedule for introductory service between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. This new schedule has been implemented to accommodate the upcoming expansion of service to Miami.

On weekdays, Brightline operates an hourly schedule. Trains depart from West Palm Beach on the hour, except for the first train that departs at 5:30 a.m., and from Fort Lauderdale at 37 minutes past the hour, except on Fridays when there is an additional departure at 11:57 p.m.

On weekends, Brightline operates 90-minute intervals between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

This new schedule will begin on Saturday and is already available for booking.

The new departure times will remain the same when service opens to Miami.

Guests are encouraged to check the Go Brightline app or the website to book a ticket or get more information.

Brightline initiated this change to accommodate the start of simulated service, or testing without passengers, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Simulated service will begin on Saturday. This is part of the necessary training and testing required before revenue service begins in the coming weeks.

The public is strongly encouraged to follow the laws around active railroad tracks. See tracks? Think trains! As part of its expanded outreach plan that began in early 2017, Brightline is working with Operation Lifesaver, a nonprofit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing accidents near railroad tracks. Brightline has already started its aggressive outreach campaign, including:
  • Placing Variable Message Signs at more than 20 high traffic crossings between Fort Lauderdale and Miami
  • Placing PSAs on English, Spanish and Creole broadcast and radio channels
  • Deploying safety ambassadors to railroad-roadway crossings to educate drivers and pedestrians about rail safety
  • Hosting trainings for local first responders
  • Distributing more than 12,000 pieces of literature to schools along the FEC Railway/Brightline corridor
Training Brightline team members as Operation Lifesaver volunteers

Time Warp on the IntraCoastal

Farewell Party Set at Village Clubhouse April 28

4/18/2018

Picture
(RELEASE)_The Village of North Palm Beach invites the public to a farewell party for the historic Village Clubhouse, where generations of locals will celebrate their favorite Country Club memories and enjoy time with neighbors, old friends and new acquaintances. The event is set for Saturday, April 28, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Village Clubhouse, 951 U.S. Highway 1.

It will be the last event held at the 55-year-old clubhouse, which will be demolished in June in preparation for a new, 37,000 square-foot clubhouse that will open in late summer of 2019.

The party will include a barbeque buffet, drinks, a raffle and a cash bar. Live music will be provided by Memory Lane from 2 to 5 p.m.

And for those who want to take home a piece of Village memorabilia, there will be a live auction of the clubhouse’s unique pineapple light fixtures, bar tables with the Village logo, and the bar stools where countless golfers have become legends. A separate and more comprehensive auction of other clubhouse items, appliances and furniture will be held online beginning May 1.

The clubhouse and pool were built for $400,000 and opened in 1963. In recent years, escalating costs of maintenance and repairs prompted the Village Council to fund construction of a new clubhouse, which will include a community room/banquet facility, restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms and storage for Village golf carts. It will cost about $18 million.
