(RELEASE)_The Village of North Palm Beach invites the public to a farewell party for the historic Village Clubhouse, where generations of locals will celebrate their favorite Country Club memories and enjoy time with neighbors, old friends and new acquaintances. The event is set for Saturday, April 28, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Village Clubhouse, 951 U.S. Highway 1. It will be the last event held at the 55-year-old clubhouse, which will be demolished in June in preparation for a new, 37,000 square-foot clubhouse that will open in late summer of 2019. The party will include a barbeque buffet, drinks, a raffle and a cash bar. Live music will be provided by Memory Lane from 2 to 5 p.m. And for those who want to take home a piece of Village memorabilia, there will be a live auction of the clubhouse’s unique pineapple light fixtures, bar tables with the Village logo, and the bar stools where countless golfers have become legends. A separate and more comprehensive auction of other clubhouse items, appliances and furniture will be held online beginning May 1. The clubhouse and pool were built for $400,000 and opened in 1963. In recent years, escalating costs of maintenance and repairs prompted the Village Council to fund construction of a new clubhouse, which will include a community room/banquet facility, restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms and storage for Village golf carts. It will cost about $18 million.
