“Music, the Holocaust, and the Will to Survive”
Lecturer: Thomas Cimarusti, Ph.D.
In commemorating the 75th year since the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, this presentation will feature music during the Holocaust, focusing on how music was used not only as a way for prisoners to cope with and escape reality, but also how the Nazis used music as propaganda.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the invasion of Ukraine a Zeitenwende, a turning point in post-war European history and German foreign policy. Explore whether this is a true Zeitenwende for Europe and transatlantic security cooperation with Germany in this small discussion. This is a class to introduce new members to OLLI Jupiter. One artist, more than any other, was able to project the lights and shadows of an era destined never to be forgotten: Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510). “Re-Evaluating the Most Hated Queen of France – Life and Death of Marie Antoinette”

This lecture, with images and film clips, brings Marie Antoinette to life. From a teenage girl plagued by marital difficulties that subjected her to public ridicule to a young woman who allegedly engaged in a scandalous extra-marital affair to a controversial Queen who ultimately ended up vilified as l’Autrichienne whose frivolous extravagance and foreign sympathies fired the French Revolution.
