(PRESS RELEASE)_PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – MARCH 4, 2020 - After the closing of a record-breaking season of ticket sales, the Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival has announced the Audience Award winners for the 30th Annual Festival. Attendees were asked to rate and survey films after watching. The Film Festival, which was hosted by the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, was held from January 26 to February 16, 2020 in theaters around Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Boynton Beach. This year, the film festival hit the big screens with 32 films and 7 short films and sold more than 8,000 tickets. South Florida film fans took over the cinemas to enjoy the lineup of films ranging from sports, politics and history to music, romance and religion – and the results of the winners are here! Because of this year’s success, the Mandel JCC will be screening some of the Audience Award winning films and other fan favorites during its Spring Film Festival, which takes place Sunday, March 22 to Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the Mandel JCC Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach locations. Guests will enjoy savory and sweet bites from a variety of leading area restaurants, along with live entertainment by Dave Scott and the Reckless Shots. Dave Scott was the 2019 Semifinalist at the International Blues Challenge. Artist Manny Mendez will paint live during the event and his painting will be auctioned off. The event will highlight Crossroads Club member’s impact on the local economy. Taste of Recovery will benefit The Crossroads Club, a non-profit organization in Delray Beach. FOTOcamp for Kids For ages 10-17 + June 8-19 / 9 am to 3 pm + July 6-17 / 9 am to 3 pm + July 20-31 / 9 am to 3 pm “FOTOcamp is for anyone between the ages of 10 and 17 that has an interest in photography and/or computers, and who are inquisitive and like adventure,” says NeJame. “It is the perfect opportunity for youngsters and teens to gain knowledge in all areas of photography, beginning with the basics of picture-taking using SLR digital cameras and progressing to state-of the-art digital imaging, at each participant’s own rate of speed.” “FOTOcamp is my favorite time of the year,” she adds. “I enjoy seeing the amazing images the kids come back with from their field trips, and I love to see their reactions when working in a real studio.” FOTOcamp students are grouped by their level of experience, from beginner to advanced in each of three 2-week summer sessions. In addition, using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, they will learn image adjustment techniques such as color correction, compositing images, adjustment layers and layer masks and other digital imaging technology. The computer lab is set up so that each student has access to a computer ensuring the ultimate hands-on experience.
