Flavor Palm Beach is in full swing, and goes through the end of this month. Currently there are some 50 restaurants participating (See the list HERE). After over a year of lockdown, it's a good excuse to get back on the local food scene.
One of the stops we made this week was an encore to one we visited during the August Restaurant Week -- the Leopard Lounge at the Chesterfield Hotel on Palm Beach. This time around, we had their Flavor Palm Beach lunch instead of the dinner. The three-course lunch is priced at $20, and includes a starter (Caesar or Greek Salad), an entree (Crab Cakes, Beef Burger or Club Sandwich) and dessert (Brownie a la Mode or ice cream). We both opted for the Greek Salad, while Pam chose the crab cakes and I went with club sandwich. We both had the brownie for dessert. First off, if you haven't been there, it provides a great setting for a meal -- opulent without being ostentatious, with an inviting tropical outdoor area (too warm to use the day we were there). Plus the food is outstanding. We enjoyed every course. Our one complaint on this visit was the service, normally topnotch. We weren't offered the Flavor Palm Beach menu (had to ask) and our young server seemed distracted at first, but did improve as the meal progressed. All in all, it's a great way to enjoy a leisurely lunch on the Island. For more on our dinner there, GO HERE. Jason K. Fettig. “We have tremendously appreciative patrons who come to Marine Band concerts for all types of different experiences, so our programs are designed to include a great variety of music that mirrors the wonderful diversity of our national musical heritage.” Since Sousa was first granted permission to tour the country by President Benjamin Harrison in 1891, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band has delivered a White House experience from Washington, D.C. to the far-reaching corners of our nation, and these special concerts have been shared by generations of Americans. (PRESS RELEASE)_Delray Beach, FL (September 2, 2021) – Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF) has received a $10,000 grant from The Schmidt Family Foundation that will support programming efforts for the organization’s general operating expenses. Achievement Centers for Children & Families provides high quality and affordable Out of School, Early Learning, and Family Support Programs to hundreds of low-wage families all year long. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ACCF provided financial assistance for 70 families struggling to pay basic rent and utility needs. Last year, the organization provided more than 243,000 nutritious meals, including 19,000 meals through a summer food distribution, which included necessities like toilet paper, PPE, and cleaning supplies to children and families in need. After a brief closure due to the pandemic in March of 2020, ACCF’S dedicated staff pivoted to provide in-person learning when all public-school sites shut down. ACCF launched a Virtual Learning Support (VLS) Program, a 10-hour program designed to assist students with a distance-learning environment while ensuring they had the tools needed to succeed, such as high-speed Internet and daily access to a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack. This program allowed working parents to continue to work, knowing that their child could receive the support in school that they may not have otherwise. “With the support of donors and foundations, such as this grant from The Schmidt Family Foundation, ACCF can ensure that we can keep our programs running to help our community and provide stabilizing efforts in a family’s time of need. We are so thankful to have been awarded this grant and thank The Schmidt Family Foundation for continuing to support us in our efforts,” ACCF CEO Stephanie Seibel said. |
