Author Speaks at YMCA Breakfast

(PRESS RELEASE)_Palm Beach, FL (April 3, 2023) - The YMCA of the Palm Beaches hosted its 14th Annual Prayer Breakfast at The Breakers Palm Beach on March 23 with more than 300 guests in attendance. The featured speaker, New York Times bestselling author John C. Maxwell, shared insightful lessons on servant leadership to the philanthropic crowd of Y supporters.

The event raised significant funds in support of the YMCA of the Palm Beaches’ critical programs that serve families, children, and seniors in Palm Beach County. Notable guests included Paul and Kathy Leone of The Breakers Palm Beach; Jim and Sara McCann, event Honorary Chairpersons; Town of Palm Beach Council President Maggie Zeidman; Palm Beach County Mayor Gregg Weiss; County Commissioner Michael Barnett; West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James; Jennifer Cirillo, Director of Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation; Barbara Cipriano, Provost, and Peter Barbatis, VP/Student Services and Enrollment, of Palm Beach State College; and other local officials.

​Speakers included Tim Leuliette, YMCA Board Chairman; Pastors Jimmy Scroggins and Kevin Mahoney, both of Family Church; and Steve Scalici who led the Call to the Heart, which raised more funds than in any other year. 

The Y also shared their recently unveiled plans for a $46 million new capital project at Lake Lytal Park in central Palm Beach County, a public-private partnership between the YMCA of the Palm Beaches and Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation. The groundbreaking for Phase 1 is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. 

The Y has a goal of never turning away an individual or family for needed programs or services because of their inability to pay. All funds raised at the Prayer Breakfast go to provide support for the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
