Bar Capri Opens at Elisabetta's

People coming to downtown West Palm Beach have a new way to admire the stunning, waterfront views while enjoying good food and drink. Welcome, Bar Capri, the newly-opened, rooftop venue at Elisabetta's.

Featuring a 75-seat covered bar, guests order from a menu that includes bar bites and pizza, as well as cocktails, wine and beer. Hours are Monday-Friday starting at 4 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 12 noon. Happy Hour is daily, 4-7 pm, only at the bar, featuring $2 off cocktails and half-price pizza.

We took the opportunity to give it a test drive this week, boarding the elevator up to the rooftop, where we were greeted by Olivia, the hostess. We were seated by the railing, with a perfect view of the yachts in the marina and Palm Beach across the Intracoastal.

Lauren, our waitperson, started us off with one of the appetizers -- Caviar and Chips ($60), served with cream fraiche and Elisabetta's house-made, rosemary chips, which came in a brown paper bag. The caviar was good, but the chips were even better. More, please!

For cocktails, we ordered a pineapple martini and a strawberry/basil martini, as well as a French 76 (all $15). We paired those with their Salicce pizza, made with Italian sausage, fior di latte and basil. ($21.50). It came to the table in a carry-out box, and was, as they say in Italy, "fantastico."

Another cocktail they offer is the Il Hugo, with gin, elderflower and muddled cucumbers ($15). Two thumbs up for that one as well. Cameron, the Bar Capri manager, said they will be expanding the bar bites menu at some point.

Of course, we couldn't leave without their signature dessert -- Tiramisu. One serving was enough for all three in our party, and we even had some to take home for later.

It's easy to see Bar Capri will soon be the hottest "to-go" spot in West Palm.
