(VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM)_Demolition of the Camelot Hotel at 1000 US Highway 1 began this morning. In early 2021, the hotel was found to be “unsafe” by the Village’s Special Magistrate. The Special Magistrate granted the Village authority to demolish the buildings and recover costs for demolition in the form of a lien on the property. Rather than use tax dollars to demolish the buildings and staff time to manage the process, the Village has worked with the owners of the property to reach an agreement whereby the owners would demolish the buildings themselves. The owners recently obtained a demolition permit and have four months to complete the demolition of the process, per their agreement with the Village. Although the property owners have no imminent plans to redevelop the property, they have benchmarks to meet regarding the sale or redevelopment of the property as part of the agreement with the Village. If you notice any construction related issues with the demolition, please contact the Building Department at (561) 841-3365 (Option 1).

The Camelot Hotel at 1000 US Highway 1 is undergoing demolition after being deemed "unsafe" by the Village's Special Magistrate in early 2021. The Village has reached an agreement with the property owners for them to handle the demolition, avoiding the use of tax dollars, and setting benchmarks for potential redevelopment in the future.
