(Press Release) National Margarita Day is coming up on Thursday, February 22. Cheers to the holiday at one of these local restaurants. There are dozens of differing accounts as to the origins of the margarita. For example, popular tequila brand, Jose Cuervo, claims the cocktail was invented in the late 1930s, in honor of Mexican showgirl, Rita de la Rosa. Other accounts claim the cocktail was born at a bar in Juárez; a city located on the Mexico—U.S. border. Hussong’s Cantina in Ensenada, Baja California has also gotten significant recognition as the home of the original margarita. While the birthplace of the margarita is ambiguous, the cocktail’s popularity is concrete, as one of the most frequently ordered drinks in the United States. And in sunny south Florida, there is no shortage of the refreshing tequila elixir. Elisabetta’s Ristorante Elisabetta’s has an extensive menu of delicious Italian dishes, not to mention a stellar craft cocktail list.
